CAUSES OF STORMWATER DRAIN BLOCKS
Tree Roots
90% of all stormwater drain blockages we see are caused by tree roots. They are drawn to the water in the pipes and can quickly takeover the system.

Damaged or Broken Pipes
If your stormwater pipes have been damaged or deteriorated over time the water will be unable to flow through its intended course.

Incorrect Installation
It’s important that the stormwater system has been installed correctly by a fully qualified plumber. Major problems will occur if pipes are misaligned or poorly installed not matter how many times they are cleared.

Lack of Maintenance
It’s important to keep the system clear of debris, especially the gutters and grates. If you don’t the debris will be pushed into the stormwater system and quickly cause a blockage.

BLOCKED TOILETS
If you flush a toilet and the water starts to rise and doesn’t clear away quickly, you could have a blockage in the pipes or in the toilet system.

If one toilet is flushing slowly but other toilets at the property are working fine it indicates the blockage is near the particular toilet in question.

If the water and waste is at an already high level, be sure not to flush the toilet because the water and waste might spill out onto the floor.

A lot of times something has been dropped into the toilet accidently and it is causing a blockage. For example a child might drop a toy or an apple and the obstruction is causing the problem.

If you are sure that no one has flushed any unwanted objects down the toilet, you could try using a plunger. Be aware that if there is an object, using a plunger might push it further down the system and making it harder to clear.

Call our experts on 03 8725 0415 if you need help unblocking your toilet!

BLOCKED SEPTICS
It’s not always obvious where at septic is blocked because they can be complicated. Quickly diagnosing the problem and acting on it is important to limit any damage to your property.

One of the first questions to answer is ‘when was the last time the septic tank was pumped out?’ If it was in the last year or two then it’s unlikely that it is full. This would indicate that there is a clog between the house and the septic tank.
It’s best to leave unclogging your septic to the professionals.
A blocked sink is a common plumbing problem people encounter. A blocked sink is generally caused by food or other waste getting caught in the pipe below the sink.

You could try hot water, caustic cleaners or a plunger to fix the blockage. Failing these, give us a call on 03 8725 0415 and we’ll have your blocked sink cleared in no time.

The longer you leave a blockage, the greater the potential there is to cause more damage which could prove costly.
